Potential risks from illegal filling cylinders

Potential risks from illegal filling cylinders
1/3 cylinders in the market are occupied illegally
Due to rising gas prices, many cylinders are occupied illegally to pump unqualified gas. Recently, there are many gas extracting stations in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Long An, pumping gas for all kinds of business, especially for the businesses who illegally occupy cylinders of prestigious gas companies.

Incalculable damages
Illegal gas filling is simple. They extract gas from 45kg cylinders to into12kg cylinders and each 12kg cylinder is 04kg-06kg lighter than legally filled one.

LPG cylinders debranded

Vietnam Gas Association has warned that some companies have been importing one kind of gas from China that is not reall gas. It is of Dimethyl Ether (DME) which is 100 USD/ ton cheaper than LPG. DME is a very dangerous substance to use due to its corrosion property which will gradually damage the cylinders and rubber components that may lead to gas leak and explosion anytime.

Illegal gas is unqualified and has Olefin impurities, harmful to health and environment. Many cylinders which are not tested as prescribed (gas cylinders must be tested every 5 years), are occupied from 10 to 15 years. They are not safe enough to use as they may easily lead to gas leaks during using process, causing fire and explosion.
